HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS LINGUIST ICON OF OUR TIME MR. DANIEL INYANG
'Amidst' the traumas, depressions, emotional upheavals, and unattested occurrences occasioned by riots of indiscriminate colours, stealthy deaths and metaphysical infiltrations which have cost me some silence here on Facebook over the months, I rise today to change the narrative a bit by blowing a little air of resilience to celebrate an intelligent icon whose birthday today is characterized by excessive aesthetic goodness and kindness.
Mr. Inyang has been a no-nonsense grammarian in the field of linguistics — many a person, no doubt, know this. The inborn teacher and trained phonologist, obvious in his likes and speeches, has trained a plethora of students directly and indirectly. Only his BBC accent, which he touches with American colouring especially in the tapping of 't' to slight 'r' or 'd' in its appearance in any syllable position, is a good resource material for students to tap from.
In teaching, he matches with sustained grace, kindness, love, care, humour and, wait for it, humility! His measure of intelligence is hit and attacked by a series of misguided jealousy, unfounded trials, and fruitless crucifixions, trust me. This is little surprise to those who know HOD very well, is it?
Dan, as we fondly call him, is one whose handsomeness attracts perching eyes. Ladies, keep off. It is out of reach of children. I COULD be sure that that is why such a feat, coupled with his generational brilliance, heavyweight kindness, and detribalized goodness, won him a lot of friends who can die for his sake. If I went as far as publicly claiming and declaring I was one of such friends, it would only be one of those worst-case scenarios of absolute redundancy.
A man who, of pronunciation, would correct 'len' to indeed 'l3:n' walks in the streets with an intelligent quotient whose particles crystallize into such a heady fragrant perfume that leaves off his body as he moves and then interacts with other intelligent as well as unintelligent minds just to give hope to the hopeless AS FAR AS ACADEMIA IS CONCERNED.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am talking about an author of a great many novels, one of which is the popular MY DEAREST DANIELA; about a man who is not just Dan for Dan's sake but Dan for goodness', kindness' and mercy's sake!
Therefore, if you have one way or the other benefited from any of his qualities mentioned and those not mentioned above, join me to say:
A WHOPPING GLORIOUS BIRTHDAY TO Daniel Inyang Jnr!
